Reports from Italy say that BMW is in talks to buy De Tomaso, the perpetually failed maker of supercars. The Design Museum opened its ‘Designs of the Year' exhibition yesterday in a celebration of global design innovation at its home in Shad Thames, London. Designs from across the world within seven categories – Transport, Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics and Product – have been nominated by industry experts, with the nominations now on show at the Design Museum. The first of the transportation nominations is the Autolib, a Parisian electric car commissioned by Paris' Mayor, Bertrand Delanoë.
The Lightweight Jaguar E-Type is reborn
Back in May we revealed Jaguar Land Rover’s new Heritage part of JLR’s Special Operations Division were planning to create six new Lightweight E-Types, the ‘Missing 6′ from the original production run in 1963. And now we get to see the first prototype. The new Lightweight E-Types will complete the planned run of 18 cars from 1963 – the Special GT E Project – using the remaining, unused, chassis numbers from the original run, effectively making these new E-Types able to compete in historic racing events.
